ClearedHot Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Two MV-22 incidents in Okinawa this week, one a total loss the other a major gear malfunction. A local captured some pictures of the water "landing"...I believe they all survived but looks a bit harder than a landing. Interesting series of pictures at this link https://mainichi.jp/english/graphs/20161215/hpe/00m/0na/001000g/1

Breckey Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) Clipped the drogue with the prop-rotors while TAARing. USNI Blog The 33rd and 31st RQS made the saves as well. https://www.kadena.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1030513/midnight-emergency More pictures here. Edit: I just say CH posted the same picture link. Edited December 18, 2016 by Breckey
afthunderchief16 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Been a rough few months for the USMC in/around Okinawa. Harrier, Hornet and now Osprey all have gone down. 33d/31st bros have been doing good work though like Breckey eluded to.

The probe tip is ~9ft forward of the nose when fully extended, and the proprotors are several feet aft of the nose. Regardless, glad all 5 got out safely.
