toinfinitynotbeyond Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Hello all, I have what may be a somewhat unique situation that I haven't really been able to find an answer for. I separated active duty about two years ago from the Air Force as an O-3. I moved to a state where recreational marijuana is legal and experimented with it twice when on IRR. Later, I started taking flight lessons and saw a Guard UPT board announcement and am considering applying for multiple Guard/Reserve slots in multiple airframes since I am still under the age limit. Would my experimentation disqualify me from a UPT position or a security clearance? I was not on active duty at the time and not taking flight lessons at the time either. For reference, my current PCSM score is 57 including my flight hours and AFOQT scores were Pilot 50, Nav 73, Acad, 62, Verbal 54, Quantitative 66. I am planning on retaking the AFOQT as soon as I can to hopefully improve on that as well. Thanks!
HU&W Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) EO 12564 https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/codification/executive-order/12564.html and the Bond amendment https://www.dss.mil/documents/pressroom/bond_amendment.pdf are against you. Especially since the DEA still classifies it as controlled/illegal, regardless of state laws. https://www.dea.gov/divisions/hq/2016/hq081116.shtml. If you really want it, be prepared to work hard for a waiver. Edited January 9, 2018 by HU&W
