@HuggyU2 gear up for a blue suit job.

The USAF will provide Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) T-6As and T-38Cs. No toners.

This is just a RFI and not an RFP but it's just a matter of time.

Of note it looks like they want a desirable location.

So the AF knows that they need a good location to attract retired/separated mil IPs

I'm sure it'll attract the best kind of Mil IP:  former CC's who've been blacklisted from the majors by the former people they shit on during their career.

Ok fellas, what is our next option, stop loss?

Not going to work.

This isn't going to be at a UPT base. It's going to be in a big city.

RUMINT is Alliance Fort Worth wants it.

That is awesome.  So where are the airplanes going to come from?

Alliance would be awesome. I fly into Alliance often and also live by the airport. Great facility all around with ample hangar space. Also, kind of cool to fly in and see some longhorns in the fields next to the runway.

Alliance sounds good but where are they going to put MOA's?  That airspace is busy as hell.  And as someone mentioned before, where are they going to get airplanes?

MOA placement would be tough to answer. In regards to aircraft, they’re already shopping around for another location, so maybe they’ll make a decision on a new trainer at the same time.

I hear there is a lot of open airspace, and a big runway near Lubbock, Texas...

I think the Alliance team wants Brownwood MOAs interim but primary is talks to develop newer, closer ones.

As for the jets, I think the idea is to fully invest in UPT maintenance/parts so they will take a few from each base.

there is excess iron at each T-6 location.  Our limitation is IP's / Maintenance manning.  Alliance would likely garner strong interest depending on compensation even if it can't compete with majors.  The big question is will people trust that any such program would last long enough to bet on for their future and risk missing out on airline hiring.

This is all effing stupid.  The AF would save millions by doing a few simple things to retain people.

1. $100k/yr bonus

2. No 365s

3. 4-5 year assignments

4. Hire civilians to manage 95% of queep in each squadron

These “solutions” the AF are pursuing are terribly expensive, and will cost much more than retaining your experienced and trained pilots.  Plus, what could go wrong with an AF full of inexperienced pilots with nobody there to mentor them?

Treat/pay pilots better/different than shoe cler....I mean..support personnel? That would be unfair.

But you are 100% correct.

Hire civilians for queep:  I think we have all seen a plethora of examples where a GS is hired... is absolutely incompetent at the job... and can't be gotten rid of.  No, simply get rid of the majority of the queep.

Anything new on the Maxwell thing? Man between that and the F-35, Montgomery might really get quite an economic boost.

Yes!

Montgomery is still a shithole.  Nothing more.
