BashiChuni Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 RIP. The hornet fleet sure seems to be jacked up right now.

ClearedHot Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I RARELY place cred on initial reports and "witness" accounts but they are saying it "burst into flames" while still airborne. Also, interesting that the hook is down? One would think the Super Hornets would be holding up better than the legacy birds but from recent reports the entire fleet is having serious issues due to overuse as noted by VMFA187. Prayers to the family.
VMFA187 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 The tail hook being extended on short final corroborates the stories I’ve heard saying it was initially a single engine approach. Taking a trap is SOP anytime we’ve lost an engine.

Standby Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I’ve known the Johnson family since grade school. Brice was a class act and a hell of a guy. He will be greatly missed. Rest easy brother. 1
matmacwc Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Usually happens to the best, didn't know either of them, but I'm sure they were they were great guys. It's a dangerous business and they will be missed.
Standby Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Primarily an Air Force gathering on this forum, but if you are so inclined... Wingman Foundation
Warrior Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Primarily an Air Force gathering on this forum, but if you are so inclined... Wingman Foundation True but Brice graduated from USAFA in 2007.
