travelinggirl4 Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 I went searching through this site and the best I could find was a few posts from medical students in 2011. Does anyone know if there is any kind a process or waiver to go from the AF nurse corps to aviation? I'm in a program currently where they pay for my graduate school in trade for my service (which is a great deal and extremely competitive). At the suggestion of an AF pilot friend, I was told if I'm going to change I should do it sooner rather than later because I'll need an age waiver by the time I am done with my nursing commitment. I know physician pilots exist and there are flight docs, etc but all of that is closed to nurse practitioners.
Clark Griswold Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Don't know of a program to do that but I do know a former male nurse who became a pilot. He became an O in the Guard and went to UPT via that route. My guess is that there is no program.
travelinggirl4 Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Thanks! There is so little information on this. Do you know if there is a program that transitions people from AD to the guard?
Clark Griswold Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Palace Chase is the program you want https://www.goang.com/is-ang-for-me/air-force-to-ang BO has hiring opportunities listed in the Aviation Jobs and ANG/AFR sections. Good luck!
