Schumacher did the exact same thing on the exact same corner a lap or two later, he just got lucky and didn't crash into the wall. Williams must love the feeling of not being last all the time! I was disappointed a bit in Season 3 from Netflix. Felt disjointed and they spent 5 seconds on Grosjean's crash. They had an opportunity to talk about mental resiliency, and air some of the Grosjean interview where he talked about getting his mental health squared away, but dropped the ball. And the last episode spending 5 seconds talking about race also felt like an afterthought.

And the last episode spending 5 seconds talking about race also felt like an afterthought. They also barely spent any time with discussing Russell's Merc run during the 2nd Bahrain race. They spent way too much time on pre-season testing and COVID drama (okay, I get it) and Lance Strolls multi billionare dad who is obviously a narcissist. Then when they realized they spent too much time on that - they didn't have enough time to go into detail on the rest of the season. Add to the fact that it was a short off-season so post-production must have been rushed too. I agree with you - It had way more potential - but I still enjoyed it overall! I'm also on my second whiskey of the night so maybe I'm over analyzing. This first race was exciting as hell, best I've seen in a long time. Pumped for the season to play out!!
Prozac Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Agree with the great race sentiment. Really wanted Verstappen to pass Hamilton those last few laps. Have to hand it to Lewis though. As “boring” as it is to have the same guy win all the time, the man is a machine. That was a masterful piece of defensive driving. 3

Then lap one of the race he makes it 3-4 corners and spins again. The guy shouldn't be in F1. The guy punched another driver twice for getting in his way on a Free Practice 2 lap. He doesn't deserve the seat. Strolls dad might have paid is way, but at least he has pace and isn't a punk.Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app 1

Spun in every round of practice, quali, and then the race itself. Passed people on an outlap he had no chance of outpacing on the quali laps. Just a real gem. Too bad they don’t air the GPDA meetings. 1
stract Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I came to this conclusion during season 1 of the show, but seasons 2 and 3 reinforced it for me: Christian Horner is a bit of a douchebag. I agree that Mazepin has no business in F1. Are we taking any bets on him being replaced at the mid-point of the season? I feel like Gene Haas isn't going to tolerate him too long. Would Albon consider that seat just to get back on the track this year?
SurelySerious Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I came to this conclusion during season 1 of the show, but seasons 2 and 3 reinforced it for me: Christian Horner is a bit of a douchebag. He is, but that clever cockiness really fits with the brand RB is going for it seems. If they were the perennially dominant team, I think it would be unbearable. I think Toto has a bit of an arrogant ego, too, but it’s usually hidden behind ze German understated front. And for Haas...if the driver goes so does your major sponsor, so it’s a tight spot.

I am guessing that the flow of rubles into the team is also stifling Steiner's style to unfcuking Marzipan's attitude. Hard to rip someone a new one when A) a phone call to Dad = no job as team principal and B) the two giant bald guys in dark suits, sunglasses, and suspicious lumps under their jackets are always present when kiddo is around... 1
SurelySerious Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 This. I am guessing that the flow of rubles into the team is also stifling Steiner's style to unfcuking Marzipan's attitude. Hard to rip someone a new one when A) a phone call to Dad = no job as team principal and B) the two giant bald guys in dark suits, sunglasses, and suspicious lumps under their jackets are always present when kiddo is around...I’m still wondering how they have managed to avoid getting penalized for flying the Russian flag.
brickhistory Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Congrats to Verstappen; a boring drive caused by a really good performance. Well done to Hamilton with the comeback. Russell is lucky he didn't get his ass handed to him literally. I'm betting he did figuratively by Mercedes and Wolf for his unprofessionalism. As evidenced by his public and full apology to Bottas. Don't bite the hand that's probably going to feed you, kid... The more I watch Riccardo, the less impressed I am by him. He's running out of teams to try and not be under pressure by his teammate. Overall, pretty interesting race. I enjoy the uncertainty that rain brings to the performance. 2 3
stract Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I'm tending to agree with you on Ricciardo. I'm also starting to wonder the same thing about Vettel. Vettel has consistently underperformed in comparison to his teammate for the last couple of years, so you can't blame the car... I'm also looking forward to the sprint qualifying. I can see lots of variables bringing a level of uncertainty and excitement to what is currently a very boring and predictable qualifying session. 3
brickhistory Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Meh race today. Hamilton is just a much better driver than Bottas. No more excuses to be given. 1

He could probably ride his championships a lot farther than Alonso or Kimi have theirs, if only he could manage to consistently compete well in the midfield, but even that seems like it might be out of reach. I'll save my judgment for Ricciardo until mid-season, but I'm not too optimistic. This begs the question - who has ever had a successful comeback? Not even Michael Schumacher, so my expectations are pretty low for these guys.
brickhistory Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Max, buddy, can we talk for a minute? Listen, man, that was a good race. Merc's strategy just was better, but you did a really good job and are still up there in the points race as well. No, really the reason I wanted to talk was... Man, don't know how to bring this up but... Dude, it's the 'stache. It's gotta go or at least go full 70's porn star with it. This thin manicured line makes you look like a knock-off Inspector Clouseau or Hercules Poirot. Either way, it's just not a good look for you. Only saying this to help... 1

He doesn't know how to do the 50 mission curve either. I would also say that the #44 car was faster then the Red Bull, but that's nothing new. 1
brickhistory Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 Monaco. Another cars on parade. Yawn... Although I will credit the drivers for the close tolerances they have to navigate, lap after lap, on not smacking into something and at those, relatively speaking, high speeds. What would be fantastic to see, just once, is to go there, to that place, with all that money in resident, and all the money that comes in during race week, and see the "talent" that such money attracts. Undoubtedly, world class. But that be sexist to state that money attracts hot chicks.
GrndPndr Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 I would have watched just to see the outcome. Poor Hamilton, wah...wah... 1
brickhistory Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Today's race was pretty "Wow, didn't see that coming (sts)!" Very glad for all three podium winners.

Exactly, I really enjoyed the race, including the "Oh Sh*t" moment at the end with the race leader, then the "Sorry about that" moment with the guy in second place - an unusual moment for Hamilton. Actually left the coverage on for the podium experience this time. If one hasn't seen the race, it's worth a look.
Prozac Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Pirelli has some ‘splainin to do. Would love to see a second or even multiple tire suppliers come back to F1. 1

Interesting to note that Pirelli almost immediately blamed debris on the failures. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/pirelli-believes-baku-tyre-blowouts-caused-by-debris/6541833/
stract Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 I've been feeling sorry for Vettel for a while now, so glad to see him on the podium again.
kaputt Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I enjoy F1, but you all should check out IndyCar as well if you like open wheel racing. Less engineering and tech heavy of a series, so if you’re into that I guess IndyCar can’t provide as much for you there. Good looking and sounding cars though and the series itself puts so much more in the hands of the drivers. There are actual battles and passes for the lead and small teams have legitimate chances to win. In fact the most well funded team in the series, Penske, has yet to win a race this year. 7 different winners through 8 races so far this year as well. Good mix of tracks as: road, street course, and ovals. I feel like I’m doing a marketing post or something, but I just finished watching today’s race in Detroit. Great race and better than pretty much any race F1 has put on in recent history.
