"Going Active": Extended Active Duty (EAD)

Since we're all waiting on clarification about what's going on with the VLPAD program, does anyone here have any recent experience or info on simply going active from the Guard or Reserve? There's a bit of info on MyPers but not much more than simply how to apply.

We must be fixing the problems with the Air Force given the number of people asking how to get back on active duty lately.

Would the 10 yr UPT service commitment to the ANG prevent a move to AD? I’m sure the grass is not greener on AD... but it’s always good to know about other options out there.

Or, the ARC has been so busy and people have deployed so much that they are actually within striking distance of an AD retirement and they would rather drop 3 years of mil leave and go be an ROTC instructor and call it quits rather than continue in this revolving door of constant AEF deployments...
