HuggyU2 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 It's a serious subject, obviously, and there have been some high-profile cases involving airline pilots in the last few years Here's a good story on when "shit got real" in the airline industry. https://www.airspacemag.com/flight-today/recovery-deep-stall-180974455/ 1 3 1
TreeA10 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 If the Captain received a pardon, did the FO and the FE also get a pardon? I know the FE Was hired at American. (He wrote a very nice tribute on the union website to Cecil Ewell, the Chief Pilot that recently passed away that hired him, after Cecil gave him the second chance most people never get.)
Sua Sponte Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I’m friends with one of the United pilots who was arrested in Scotland trying to fly under the influence. Unfortunately, that wasn’t his first alcohol related incident as a pilot. I will say he completely turned his life around and has been sober since and is still in the aviation community. 1
FLEA Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Great read. I believe everyone deserves redemption. We're all human, people make mistakes. 1

Having said that we were glad he was able to overcome all obstacles and return. Great credit to the CEO Dasburg. 1 1
Seriously Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 A great story of insulation instead of isolation.
ryleypav Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Just ordered his book. Hopefully its just as good a read as that article.
Bergman Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 (edited) Damn, I’d say shit got real... ”Whatever the trio’s intentions, it was later established in court that by the end of the night Prouse’s crewmates had ordered seven pitchers, and he’d had 17 rum and cokes.” Good read overall. That says it all. Careful who you run with on layovers.
Gas Man Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Kirchner was a LCA at Atlas. I did IOE with him. He ended up the MEC for Atlas and I think he still is.
