As a counter to the Simone Biles quitting discussion, I propose this thread where we can celebrate triumphs free of any political side discussions. Just watched swimmers Caleb Dressel and Bobby Finke absolutely kill it in the 50 free and 1500 free respectively. What a couple of absolute champions! Finke came back from third place to absolutely dominate the last 50 meters of the 1500 which is a truly grueling event. ‘Murcia! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

The Qatar and Italian high jumper go height for height the entire competition and both end up tied. Instead of electing for a jump off to determine the winner they agree to share the gold. Hands down one of the best Olympic moments of all time and what this is all about. The video their reactions is a must watch.

The Olympics are a funny thing.  My default position is I don't care in the least about them, especially in this day and age of wokey this and wokey that.

My wife, however, is a lifetime Olympic fiend, so the games are on constantly in my house.  It's kind of funny how, one minute I don't give a damn, and the next minute life as I know it will be over if the women's volleyball team doesn't defeat Cuba.  And the men's swimming medley was phenomenal.

So, yeah, it's still entertaining.  Hats off to the genuine Olympic rock stars who do phenomenal things and are proud of the nation that supports them.

Many ads have been trying to monetize race baiting, like many of our politicians.  I have also noted that I haven't seen NBC put up a SINGLE medal count during the prime time that I've had it on after the kids are in bed.  Wonder if they think that would be too patriotic.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Polo ad.  It was unapologetically American and overall very counter to the current political direction of our country.  Next time I'm buying church clothes, I'm buying a Polo brand.

North Koreans celebrate Kim Jong Un winning every Olympic gold medal

“The divine athleticism of our Dear Leader has shocked the war mongering West."

PYONGYANG — Olympic fever swept over the Hermit Kingdom faster than a winter famine this year as the nation celebrated the astonishing accomplishments of the North Korean Olympic Team in Paris. To date, the team, composed exclusively of North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, has reportedly been awarded “all the gold medals,” according to state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun.

“The divine athleticism of our Dear Leader has shocked the war mongering West, who reek of gun powder and Gatorade, and brought honor and glory to the people of True Korea,” said Kim Il-guk, President of the DPRK’s Olympic Committee and Concentration Camp Manager for Families of Losing Athletes. “I saw it with my own eyes.”

He then went into great detail about how, despite a torrential downpour and bolts of “heavenly lightning that cowed everyone else,” the North Korean leader executed flawless, gazelle-like leaps during the 110- and 400-meter hurdles.

Gen. Kang Sun-nam, the DPRK’s Minister of Defense, spoke of the one time it seemed Kim almost missed out claiming the gold in an event.
