Ask most of the auto manufacturers on the planet. A large percentage of automotive wiring harnesses are/were produced in Ukraine. I guarantee you Volkswagen, Ford, and Toyota care a whole lot about sovereignty right now. Same goes for anyone who produces anything with a microchip in it. They’re anxiously watching Taiwan ATM. What do you think would’ve happened if Russia’s invasion was met with no resistance from NATO? There is a very good chance Putin would’ve come to the conclusion that NATO was ineffectual and obsolete and his next move would likely have been the Baltics. He has been testing NATO resolve there for years & if he thought for a minute NATO would not defend that territory, he’d be there in a hot second. Also don't discount the "slow and steady" wins the race strategy. Let's say they got all of Ukraine in a hypothetical, they won't immediately go into the neighboring countries, they'll wait 10-15 years, and then go start an info war to try and erode the neighboring countries from the inside out/get them to stray from NATO. The Russians aren't playing insert large number-D chess, but I do think they were trying to play the long game and use patience/deception as primary weapon in a world with really short attention spans. Looks like they may have f*cked it up tho by over estimating their military's capabilities/morale, corruption tends to have that effect. 2

The founder is a good friend and retired Marine O-6 who has been on the ground in Ukraine for some time trying to make a difference. He stood up this group and they are working hard to train Ukrainian forces in a large array of tactics and capabilities as they kick the shit out of the Russians. Talk is cheap, so I threw 500 in, least I can do & trusting you it'll go to good use. I CFI near the coast guard academy and have a couple cadets learning to fly. Flew with a cadet the other day who said one of his buddies attending the academy is from Ukraine. Guess he's heading back home after this week to go fight. Sobering to say the least. 4
ClearedHot Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Reports of a Ukrainian strike a few days ago that hit a command post and killed approximately 200 Russians including a few more General Officers. Also reported that same strike missed Russian General Aleksandr Dvornikov by less than 30 minutes. He is the new commander of the Ukrainian invasion and in Putin's close circle. Russian loses are severe and have been mounting, to the point the Russians are reportedly doing a second mobilization. Ukrainian intelligence uncovers covert mobilisation of the unemployed and "Cossacks" underway in Russia. Total numbers are still unknown but estimated at over 10,000 soldiers killed. With fairly high confidence it has been reported Russia has lost at least 700 main battle tanks, a significant number. 3 1

Open source suggests that the strike was however successful in taking out MG Simonov, their Chief of EW, and who—based on the fact that he couldn’t prevent collection assets from locating and passing along the coordinates for himself and the Chief of the General Staff to Kyiv—was not doing a particularly stellar job. 2 3 1

hindsight2020 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Now Admiral makarov frigate alleged to be hit too. Ukranian countersea upping up the street cred and re writing doctrine books for everybody else as we speak lol. Anybody know the 5 day forecast for crimea? Would hate for that ACME cloud pop up "storm" to sink another otherwise "perfectly intact" russian flagship lol. *Scurries to the backyard for another rain dance session* 2

ClearedHot Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 The Russians continue to take HEAVY losses in both personnel and equipment. As the fight in the east intensifies it was expected the Russians would hold a great advantage due to the flat terrain and expected maneuver/combined arms warfare. From this video near Donetsk, that is not working out for them thanks to anti-armor weapons like Javelin and some very savvy RPA/Artillery coordination by the Ukrainians. The Russians seem incompetent but I hope that is not the take away from our folks in DoD who are no doubt soaking up every tron and lesson learned. 7
waveshaper Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 The Guinness World Record's office needs to add this "Turret Tossing" as a new category.
