Seems anecdotal. SEC is 10-5 against non-conference this year. No other conference has a non-conference record even close. Four ACC v SEC games coming up in a week. SEC probably goes 3-1, making them 13-6 for the year against non-conference. I think that's convincing enough to underweight their conference losses when picking playoff teams.

That is the hand-waving they will use to get a three loss Alabama team in.  When you throw the non-conference argument on the table you overlook the fact that Alabama lost to Vanderbilt.  When you peel the onion back you find out the conference losses should be pulling them down as a whole.  Georgia lost to a now three loss Alabama and Ole Miss who got punked by at the time what was a very mediocre Gator team.  The rankings of the SEC teams has been artificially high because well...$.

Or is that just how college football is going to look going forward?  Maybe with the transfer portal we are getting much better parity and this year’s national champ isn’t a forgone conclusion like in years past. I still got money on Ohio State to win it all, but they should’ve lost to Nebraska and did lose to Oregon who nearly got beat by Wisconsin and Boise. Point being, the playing field appears to be more level this season for sure and perhaps SEC teams beating up on each other will be the new normal. I’m not advocating for Alabama, like Finebaum or something, but I’m glad we’ll get to watch it play out in real time in the playoffs. The only thing I’m pissed about is Notre Dame’s schedule full of garbage and never having to be accountable…Unless NIU shows up in South Bend.

As a non-member of the SEC faith, I think there are SEC teams (Georgia and Tennessee) that have a far better argument than a team like Miami.

Miami, who squeaked out a 4 pt win over VT, a 1 PT win over Cal, and who lost to GT. I'd say Miami is equivalent to 8-3 SC. SC's 3 loses were to Bama, LSU, and Miss. Two of those loses were by 3 pts or less.
