Max Total Federal Commissioned Service. 5 years or 8 years?

I've seen different units advertise different maximums for TFCS--some say no more than 5 years and some say no more than 8 years. Does anyone know if there is one correct answer and what publication I could find it in? On a similar note, if anyone has ever successfully had a TFCS waiver approved, I would be grateful if someone could DM me the template. TIA

On the reserve side at least 8 or more requires a waiver. It might be a squadron initiative to require less i suppose, or maybe fighters could be less due to more required training. The waiver is easy to get approved it just depends if the squadron wants to give you a waiver.
