Will be visiting a fighter squadron during a drill weekend and am invited to a social event/roll call after work. Have read a lot of forums on here with the advice,

1. Don't be a douche,

2. Don't talk about yourself unless asked,

3. Bring a nice bottle of booze as a token of appreciation,

4. Be a cool dude(tte)

Beyond that, any other specific DOs and DONTs you could give a novice for roll call and for the visit in general? Thanks in advance.

If it’s actually a “real” roll call, do not tell a story, an instant justice, etc. Even if asked…your only response is whatever their toast is and take the shot. No matter how funny you think a story at college, while flying a 172, etc is, it will not land as well as you think. Don’t get hammered - you haven’t earned the ability to get wrecked and have all of them still like you the next day. Also helps you maintain control of yourself and not say dumb shit.

Be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you *think* they want you to be.
