gearhog Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Some of you spent your entire careers fighting terrorists. You sacrificed. Some sacrificed everything. Why? So the DoD could negotiate and strike a deal with a 9/11 mastermind? How many more ways are they going to spit in our faces?
brabus Posted August 1 Posted August 1 The guy should have been hung by his dick while receiving death by bunga bunga the minute after all useful intel had been extracted. But here we are…ridiculous. 2

Danger41 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 IDGAF about him spending the rest of his life in jail versus executed. If he offered something up to get that deal, even better. Besides, getting killed is the easy way out. Enduring the rest of your life in prison as you slowly waste away is a better punishment, IMO. 1 4
brabus Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Maybe, that depends on the prison. Russian prison, fuck yeah…US coddled prison with 1st world amenities, hell no. 2

Perhaps the same type of people who would make this “deal”? https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/08/americas/viktor-bout-profile-prisoner-swap-intl/index.html Or this one: https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/08/americas/viktor-bout-profile-prisoner-swap-intl/index.html 3
Sua Sponte Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Death would probably be welcomed by him since he's already spent 21 years at GTMO and now will spend an eternity there. Him being confined for life is more torturous, which is a good thing considering what he did.
Danger41 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I can think of many times when I would have much rather been killed than had to endure pain for a very long time. Recent trip to in-laws is a great example. 4

gearhog Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 (edited) Lloyd Austin just revoked the plea deal, making the death penalty possible again. I'll give him credit for that, but some of you have a record of immediately carrying the water for the current official position, no matter how wrong it may be. I would like to see more critical thinking. Edited August 3 by gearhog

Do you think he was actually unaware of the plea deal? I find it hard to believe SecDef was not briefed routinely about a case this big. I think he knew about and blessed the plea deal and his revocation is purely a reaction to public sentiment 94 days before an election. Edited August 3 by nunya 1

nunya Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I guess you see those as comparable... I don't think a case 23-years in the making is the same as announcing the death of an 87 year old a couple hours prior.

You’d have to be an idiot to think it’s a direct comparison.

McCall overturned a decision by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reversing three pretrial agreements signed by a senior retired general he put in charge of military commissions at Guantanamo Bay, saying Austin did not have the power to do so and that he had acted too late. fire4effect Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) Another case involving Alexander Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh (2 of the 4 "Beatles" terrorist cell) got life in SuperMax because the Brits don't have the death penalty and that was the condition for cooperation. To me the solution is easy. Put them all in general population in USP Hazelton WV where Whitey Bulger lasted less than an hour. This time they'll get a real "jury of their peers" and the problem will take care of itself. Edited November 8 by fire4effect
Prosuper Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I'm surprised he is still in Cuba and not in Florence Colo , from what I have read Gitmo is a country club compared to Super ATX.
