Initially formed at Kelly Field in August of 1917 during WWI, the 96th conducted the first aerial bombing mission on June 12, 1918. Launched from Amanty Aerodrome flying the Breguet 14, the Red Devils flew 96km to strike the rail yards in Dommary-Baroncourt.

Currently the world’s premier bomb squadron, flying the B-52H from Barksdale AFB, LA.
