disgruntledemployee Posted November 12 Author Posted November 12 (edited) So far... Oh, and.. Trump announced he is nominating former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as his U.S. ambassador to Israel. Edited November 12 by disgruntledemployee Huckabee
ClearedHot Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Pete Hegseth named to be SECDEF....WOW! He was labeled a threat/extremist by his Guard unit for vigorously supporting Trump. I hope he turns the building upside down! 8 3

Runr6730 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Am I missing something? How is this guy remotely qualified to be SECDEF? 2
tac airlifter Posted November 13 Posted November 13 1 minute ago, Runr6730 said: Am I missing something? How is this guy remotely qualified to be SECDEF? Well, he's not a pussy and he hates feckless weak bureaucracy. Good in my book. What do you consider appropriate pedigree for the position? 2 3

Stack his resume up against any former SecDef and it is laughable. But anyone who makes the argument that a boot-licking FoxNews host is qualified because he was a CGO in the Army will tell you all you need to know about their ability to think clearly about the next administration. 3
BashiChuni Posted November 13 Posted November 13 maybe the POS flag officer class needs someone from the FGO ranks to kick them in the ass couldnt do worse than losing two major wars in the last 20 years 2
bfargin Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Yeah because McNamara's resume was so stellar. I can guarantee Hegseth won't dick things up as much as ole Robert or Lloyd did (I might be missing some other turds in the line too). 1 3
SHFP Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Sorry “HercDude”, you were probably not born, or old enough, to understand what McNamara did to us during his Vietnam time. 4

Having worked in a COCOM staff, IMHO retired 4 stars make terrible SecDefs (aka Lloyd). They are too deep in the Pentagon bureaucracy by the time they make their 4th star and it is impossible for them not to be biased. Considering we wage military operations through Combatant Commanders who report directly to SecDef, always good to have someone with some military experience but not indoctrinated into the cesspool that is OSD and the Joint Staff. Esper was only an FGO and I think he was one of our best SecDefs. Edited November 13 by dream big 1

His delivery was way better than I can every convey here, but I just laughed at the time. The longer I went in my career, the more I realized he was right. 2
ClearedHot Posted November 13 Posted November 13 What is wrong with you people? How could Hegseth with a Bachelor of Arts in politics at Princeton University, A Master of Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University, multiple combat tours possibly know anything about leading the people in the DoD? Instead we should rely on professionally trained people like Donald Rumsfeld, at the time of his nomination had three years on active duty and two terms as a Congressman under his belt. Maybe Obama's model is better, he picked Chuck Hagel who served as a squad leader in Vietnam before becoming a senator, businessman and LOBBYIST. You are all racist. 1 3 6

HeloDude Posted November 13 Posted November 13 11 hours ago, Runr6730 said: Am I missing something? How is this guy remotely qualified to be SECDEF? Because Obama was very qualified to be President…oh wait… If the new SecDef (assuming he gets confirmed) F’s things up more than the current retired 4-star SecDef, then most definitely feel free to complain. But the last two to three decades hasn’t exactly been great when it comes to the DoD, and I’m sure many would say most of those SecDefs were “qualified”. 5
disgruntledemployee Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 I will say this. A seemingly Average Mil Joe* taking over is probably what we need, if confirmed. I expect nice fireworks at the confirmation if he gets that far. Bold move Cotton, let's see if it works out. Biff, you had a solid shot at the job. * I know absolutely nothing about the dude. Sounds like someone that's seen some shit, but not ranked up to the brainwashed/lobotomy tiers. 1

gearhog Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Matt Gaetz for AG. Tulsi Director of National Intelligence Thisbis going to be the most amazing/entertaining 4 years of our lifetime. Edited November 13 by gearhog 1 1

DJT has talked a lot about how he porked away picking the right people starting his first term. I really think there is a stark contrast emerging with this second team.

Gaetz might be entertaining at times, but he ain't right. I wouldn't select him as dog catcher. I hope he steps up and does his job appropriately, but that appointment might bite trump in the butt. 1 3
ViperMan Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I'm honestly not too keen on Matt Gaetz or Tulsi Gabbard for the positions they've been nominated for. Though in fairness, I think far less damage could be done by Matt Gaetz, so I'm less concerned about that one. If Tulsi is confirmed, I hope she wakes up real quick and changes her tune about "regime change wars," etc. I don't think it'll be healthy to have someone in a position like that who doesn't have a firm grasp of our role in the world.
