statement from Delta:

Endeavor Air and Delta are correcting disinformation in social media containing false and misleading assertions about the flight crew of Endeavor Air 4819.

  • Captain: Mesaba Airlines, a progenitor company of Endeavor Air, hired the captain in October 2007. He has served both as an active duty Captain and in pilot training and flight safety capacities. Assertions that he failed training events are false. Assertions that he failed to flow into a pilot position at Delta Air Lines due to training failures are also false.
  • First Officer: Hired in January 2024 by Endeavor Air and completed training in April. She has been flying for Endeavor Air since that time. As with any airline pilot, her flight experience mandated minimum requirements set by U.S. Federal regulations. Assertions that she failed training events are false.

Both crew members are qualified and FAA certified for their positions.

This is why American corporations going the DEI route was so poisonous.

They planted the seeds for the general public to not trust who they are putting in the front of airplanes by openly stating they would prioritize immutable characteristics as part of their hiring practices.

The crazy speculation and blow back you’re seeing on social media is a direct fault of their choices and actions in the post 2020 world.

It will take a long time to reverse  the distrust; and it may never go away since so many out there still worship at the altar of DEI.

So the Captain joined a regional 18 years ago and is still there, though he purportedly did not fail Delta training? How often does that happen?

Depends on the airline but it wasn't that uncommon in the Mormon air force. Seniority combined with instructor pay and some people cross that threshold of willing to go back to the bottom of the list. You get your fair share of "unique" people but most are good people who just didn't strike the gold mine of timing.
