Guest theflyinj
I had an interview with an air national guard unit recently and I got selected for pilot. I had applied to AD Air Force prior to the interview but as you know the boards were cancelled. I will meet the AD Board this January. What happens if I get a slot. Can you transfer over? Or after you swear in is that it?
scoobs
Do you want to fly AD or Guard? From your post it sounds like you want AD. I wouldn't turn down the slot since the guard usually runs slow. It would take a year or so before going to AMS and UPT. That would give you enough time to find out if your accepted in January. Good luck. Scooter14
Look out for yourself, but don't bone some alternate and a Guard unit who may have already bought your slot because you know you're gonna go AD anyway. Guard units are looking for folks to be there for a while. If you want to go AD, they don't really need you, do they? [ 10. scoobs
Rainman would you recommend doing ten years AD then going to the reserves? I know you don't care for guard babies.
Guest Rainman A-10
Ugh, here we go again. Originally posted by scoobs: Rainman would you recommend doing ten years AD then going to the reserves? Yes. Originally posted by scoobs: I know you don't care for guard babies. Wrong. I have never said I don't care for GBs. I think they get screwed out of some valuable experience and attention that most young USAF officers need. Their perspectives are based on their experiences. I wish I could send every GB out into the world for at least two years. It is just my opinion based on my experience and observations. The GBs don't like my point of view on this topic and they flame the sh!t out of me every time it comes up.
