Guest WildBill Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I'm going to be doing supt with the Air Force very soon, and as I'm not in the AF, I have a question that I hope ya'll could answer. I was issued my HGU-68 TACAIR helmet the other day, solid dark green overall, yada yada yada. The question I have is when non-Air Force types do supt with you all, do your PR's put white reflective tape on them for us, or will we typically go without until advanced? The reason I ask is because I know the AF doesn't use reflective tape, and the primary VT's for the Navy tape them up for everyone else the first week or so of Primary, hence my question. What has everyone here seen? Thanks in advance.
Rocker Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I'm pretty sure you'll just be issued the HGU-55/P like everyone else when you first in process to wear during tweets/T-6s and again in 38s. I personally have not seen anyone from any of the AF UPT bases wearing a different helmet. If you don't go the 38 route, you'll either give it back or be sneaky (probably to use again later in your career or at parties). [ 13. September 2005, 19:12: Message edited by: Rocker ]
Herk Mafia Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 If you are going to Whiting, you will get issued a Navy helmet and they will size it for you as well as put the tape on it. After you are done with Primary, you will give them the helmet back (unless you go T-44's). When you get to your AF unit, you will be issued your own AF helmet.
HerkDerka Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Navy and Marines don't use their service-issed buckets in AFUPT. You'll get an HGU-55 and give it back. HD
Guest WildBill Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Thanks HerkDriver24, that's what I was wondering, as I just realized my first post was a bunch of incomprehensible crap.
