Magnum Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Haven't heard this rumor. What is being said? Herkbum Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! OG told us that a DSG bonus was all but approved...amount unknown. He did some digging and found out technicians would be eligible. Said it would be in FY 15. This was several months ago and haven't heard any updates since.
genie90 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I'm ANG and mine (initial payment) took about 8 weeks. Word is there is a single person at NGB processing them for the entire ANG. Sorry fellas should have quantified that it was an initial application... Much thanks.

Would love for our guys to get something for all the shit they have put up with the last 2 yrs. Herkbum Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
herkbum Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Just spoke with my OG/CC. He has not seen anything official. But, he stated his personal feeling is there is no way this gets instituted due to the current fiscal environment.

herkbum Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 What's a DSG bonus? Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! Drill Status Guardsman, aka a Traditional Guardsman. Herkbum Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
HercDude Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Drill Status Guardsman, aka a Traditional Guardsman. Really? What's the logic behind that? Are traditionals walking away from the service at an unacceptable rate?
nunya Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 They will be if AD starts to mobilize them to teach the Afghans and other such wastes of time. 1
herkbum Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Really? What's the logic behind that? Are traditionals walking away from the service at an unacceptable rate? Not in my unit. As I said earlier, my OG/CC didn't know anything about it and believes it will never happen. This forum is the first and only place I heard this bonus mentioned.
Muscle2002 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 How long after the agreement effective date did folks receive their payment this year?
Fifty-six & Two Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Final take rate numbers out for FY14 yet? Not yet. Still at 54% as of 31 Oct.
ViperStud Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Interesting. OG/CC at my unit told me it was more of a matter of if than when - as in will it make it in FY15 or not. Granted it was my interview so I didn't dig for details, but there was also no incentive to lie as I was not being hired as a dude that would be bonus eligible anyway. The guard and reserves are having issues with manning too - hiring freeze of sorts due to the 8/10-year ADSC shift, airline hiring, etc. Is it really a surprise they would throw money at the problem?
Flare Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 The line to get a part time guard or reserve job is a mile long at all the Viper units I've talked to. I can't believe they'd give one to the part time guys....especially with the way the airlines are hiring now.
Jaded Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I've heard secondhand that many units are having trouble finding enough f-16 guys. Any truth to that?
sqwatch Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I've heard secondhand that many units are having trouble finding enough f-16 guys. Any truth to that? I've only talked to bros at three units, but they all say the same thing - get your resume squared away and knock out all available upgrades because the exodus from active duty has made even part time jobs competitive.
Jaded Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 It's interesting; I'd heard that guard units were having the same problem, with even AGR guys giving up their full time slots to take airline jobs. I had thought the airline hiring would hit active duty harder than it has, but maybe it'll hit the guard first. All heresy though.

I can't believe they'd give one to the part time guys....especially with the way the airlines are hiring now. Maybe we looked a different units but that is not a universal truth. I got hired this summer and had another option as well. I'm not talking about HO either. Some others aren't hiring, like Luke unless you want HO hanging over your head. However, there are jobs out there.
Beaver Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 My bro at a Reserve Viper squadron said they were having a hard time filling some full time spots. May be due to the fact that ARTs can't take mil leave.
Smokin Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Most of the Viper ARTs I know are just using it as a holding position until they get hired by the airlines.
Fifty-six & Two Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) New updated numbers today. 1 FY14 pkg and 5 FY15 pkgs finalized over the past 2 weeks. Still sitting at just over 53% take rate. FYI, last year's take rate was 68%. Last time it was below 65% was FY02. I know it's not over until it's over, but come on. Butters Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Last I heard A1 said their goal for this year was 53.69% 1
icohftb Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Last I heard A1 said their goal for this year was 53.69% You mean they overshot their target? better get the rif paperwork started
TnkrToad Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Funny; looking at most updated stats: - The three pilot groups with the worst take rates are: Mobility (179/349--51.3%), Fighter (130/281--46.3%) and Unmanned (16/32--50%) -- The Mobility and Fighter pilot groups have the two largest groups of eligibles--low take rates for large groups makes for crummy overall retention -- Two of the three groups were specially targeted by AFPC for retention efforts (Fighter and Unmanned, of course)--specially-targeted bonuses don't seem all that helpful (at least at amounts they're currently offering) Almost all pilot groups are way below last year's take rates: - CSAR: 69.6% (down 24.2% from last year) - C2ISR/EW: 57.5% (down 18.5%) - Fighter: 46.3% (down 16.3%) - Mobility: 51.3% (down 15.7%) - Bomber: 66.7% (down 14.5%) - Unmanned: 50% (down 9.3%) - Particular MDSs seem to really be hurting pretty badly; check out the take rates for the following: -- A-10: 38.5% -- F-15: 24% -- MQ-9: 33.3% -- CV-22: 28.6% - My cursory look at AETC flying training (SUPT and RTU) bases indicates that there'll be plenty of "opportunities" for folks to PCS to SUPT/RTU bases It'll be interesting to read the FY14 ACP Report. Can't wait to see how they try to put a positive spin on this.
Jaded Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 John Q public's blog mentioned that he talked to AFPC and was told that they have a huge backlog they are still working through. He received numbers, did the math and it looked like the take rate was going to be about the same as last year. I don't know how this is going to actually turn out, but let's wait until the final numbers are in. Was anybody around in 96/97 when the take rate fell off a cliff?
