Thanks for the pictures, truly amazing. Looks like real estate is quite cheap out there. Definitely makes one appreciate what we have here in the United States.

Kandahar has gone through complete metamorphosis since December 2001 when I flew the airfield seizure mission to secure that airfield. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

A good friend of mine is the pilot member on the frat investigation over there right now. He said there are over 12,000 people at Bagram right now.

I remember when it was a big deal if we had over 3000 people IN COUNTRY.

Times have changed...

Rainman - The USAF has less than 1500 according to the base commander. Once it gets over 1500 then the CO needs to be a BG instead of a full colonel.

That 13000 is made up of all different nationalities, not just US.

The unmarked Hueys there are US State Dept helos used to support the Afghan Eradication Project ie: getting rid of the poppies. Thats who I was over there with.

The Canberra was actually being used to map the country for mineral deposits at the request of the Afghan Government through NIMA. Guys werent wearing pressure suits so it was all 50K or below alt.

The Antonov at the bottom was our ride between Kabul and Kandahar, ideally suited for those sorts of operations.

Cheers

Incredible photos! It's amazing what happens when you 'just add water.'

Does anyone have photos of what (used to be called) Air Force Village at Bagram looks like these days? My guy was there a few years ago when there were @7,000 overall troops there, @500 of those AF.

Roger.

I was talking about 3000 TOTAL US military members in country being a big deal.

Helitac,

Post those pictures directly here in the message. We, forward deployed, can't view the pics from the hyper-link because the COMM Nazi's have it blocked.

OK I will. Some great photos! Warning, this will bring the CENTCOM computers to their knees...pic-intensive.
