Guest Ryan Paul Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Does anyone know if AMS is excluded from participation at JMAC? Also, can anyone offer a reason why I shouldn't compete at JMAC if given the opportunity (i.e. perhaps OTs that compete have to play catch-up when they return)? I'm assuming it's a positive experience.
Guest FCI Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 AMS is excluded. No you shouldn't fall behind with anything if you compete.
Wing Sweep Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I competed in May 05's JMAC at Maxwell. You start practicing two weeks prior during your normal PT time. You won't fall behind in your curriculum or classes. It's a good deal whether you host or are visiting, so take advantage of it. FCI is right. Only USAF, USN, and USA active duty compete. [ 30. POKESC17 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Joint Military Athletic Competition. Twice a year (if I remember correctly) the Army/Navy/Air Force OTS/OCS get together and compete for a trophy (a painted practice bomb). From my perspective, after suffering through it, I would say it was . I was there for the Nov 04 competition and after three months of OTS the last thing any of us wanted to do was spend a Saturday on an Army base watching people do push ups and sit ups when we all had family sitting at Maxwell waiting for us. All that the competitors got was a T-shirt and a medal if the won a competition if I remember correctly. Basically just bragging rights for the CC for the next 6 months. Just my .02 [ 31. Guest Aces-High Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Just be careful about JMAC. A friend of mine was injured while playing and it was questioned whether or not he would have to be washed back a class cause he couldn't do the PFT stuff. It's not worth it if you ask me. But of course your dumbass FCs with think it's cool. You'll see how stupid it is once you get to UPT. And by it I mean the whole OTS experience not just JMAC.
