08Dawg Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Last bomber actually shot down was probably one of the D-model Buffs going into downtown Hanoi during Linebacker II. I know of at least one G model that took an SA-2 hit during Desert Storm, but the crew and jet made it home.
Breckey Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 A few AC-130's were downed over the Ho Chi Minh Trail during the Vietnam War as well
SCRIMP Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) HH-60G, callsign Pedro66, was shot-down in the Helmand River Valley...not a fighter or bomber...sorry, I'm not sorry. There was a lot of BDA on USAF helos. Edited August 6, 2016 by SCRIMP 1

It happened during Desert Storm at the battle of Khafji in the early morning dawn. They stayed on station to service a call from the Marines and ended up getting hit with an SA-7. They crashed out to see with no survivors. I am good friends and flew many times with the guy who left the states heading over on that crew as the Co-pilot. After they arrived in country there was a crew shuffle and he was put on another crew. One of the gunners was the son of a childhood friend of my mom.
