Flew 'em for a 4.2 hr sortie last night.

For specs, etc., go to google, and play with the following:

AN/AVS-9 (current mil designation)

ANVIS (common term for the -6 and -9 aviators night vision imaging system)

F4949 (manufacturer designation)

ITT or Litton (manufacturer)

Hoffman (maker of all the test equipment)

Let me know if you want more gouge...I fly 'em and instruct their use every night.

Thanks to everyone who replied via PMs, I only have one last question from my bud. He was curious if ANVIS was ever used by USAF UH-1 pilots? PM me if necessary.

Cheers! M2

Yes.

In UPT phase III, UH-1 students have several flights with NVGs.

At the FTU, UH-1N folks get checked out on NVG remote ops.

In the UH-1N field units, they do NVG remote ops, and a couple of units have UH-1N FLIR.
