Guest shoes Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I'm headed to Whiting for UPT with a start date of 18 Nov. Any guess what I'll be flying, T-34 or T-6? Thanks. You might have a chance at flying the T-6 if you get to Whiting in November. Most Air Force guys are having to wait 5 or 6 months before they start training when they get here. Some even longer than that. You'll do IFS and ASBC while you wait.
Wolf424 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Wolf, I didn't mean it with hostility, you should have pictured a drunk guy standing around a keg giving one of his buddies shit....thats the context it was in. Got it, I went a grabbed a beer, I'm with you now.
Guest bunk22 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) I think we're in violent agreement. You like beta, or you don't? Love it bunk22, Have any of the T-6 haters flown it? I ask since when I flew it (UPT only) it didn't seem overly complex or a hand full to fly. As far as I know, they have not. The few that are against it have their reasons and no amount of justification is going to change their minds. Doesn't matter that the T-6 cost less to operate, is safer, etc, etc. We have a guy who is a 1000 hour T-6 driver and came over to VT-6....it was though we would get them first. So now he's flying the 34 and not so happy. As those of us who have flown it, the 34 is uncomfortable, loud, tiring after a day of contact flights (FAM's and/or Aerobatics). We have a couple of tactical guys who are on the T-6B transition team being they have HUD experience. One of em is staying around, loves the thing (he's only flown the A at this point). Had the option to go T-45's though I think location probably played a part in that one.....read Meridian. I had that choice too, T-45's Meridian or T-6's Pensacola. I'll take QOL over the 45 as well.
