Steve Davies Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Short clip of Harrier GR7 doing tactical departure at Kabul, or wherever. Work safe if your speakers are turned-off. https://media.putfile.com/low-one
Guest Jpilot Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I had to play that one a couple of times to really appreciate it. I love how the guy says he's not going to flinch, but ends up ducking. Great clip, Steve. Jp-
egochecks Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Nice. How far off the ground do you think he was? He looked no more than 20-30 ft. Thanks for the video.
Guest SuperStallionIP Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 After looking at the video a few times, I would say that the belly of the plane is no more than 15 feet AGL. Pretty wild.
Clayton Bigsby Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 EDIT - I should say that's probably either Kandahar, or Basra. If pre-OIF could be Kuwait. only reason I don't think it's Kandahar or Kabul is the total lack of mountains. anyway, whatever, it's impressive. [ 08. Steve Davies Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 And I suppose if it really was Kabul the exhaust flux would have set off all the mines in the overrun, too! I have some nice screen grabs from the vid. Will post them tomorrow.

BitteEinBit Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Nice! I'm sure that was Kandyland (Khandahar) because you can see the mountain to the north of the field when the aircraft passes and I remember being on the ground at Khandahar and seeing those guys take off and make their turn out at what looked like no higher than 50ft. That was pretty bada$$!
HerkDerka Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Upon second review I finally saw the mountain you're talking about Bitte. (Missed it on first post) Definitely Kandahar. HD

Depending on who you speak to, that incident is characterised as either superb flying, or downright dangerous flying! I can't make-up my mind as to which!
Guest twinkle toes Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I can't stop watching it! [ 11. April 2006, 16:49: Message edited by: twinkle toes ]
