I've heard of some pretty sweet living arrangements that people have had while on Active Duty (i.e. on a beach, next to a castle, etc...). Wondering if anyone on baseops has ever lived in any unique/  very cool places while in the military-

Thanks, Jp-

Me (then a 2 LT), another 2 LT and a late-rate Capt all from CBM went in on a big rental house on North Padre right on the water... BEAUTIFUL place!

We were definitley spoiled with that...

Can't beat that one with a stick!

In a tent with the rest of my crew after we built it.

Or how about in a hanger at a new FOB with 700 of my closest friends sharing 3 toilets and 3 showers running out of water to drink and wondering when MAC was going to allow airlift to land and bring in supplies.

Yeah those are great places....

Yes. Been there, done that as well. Numerous times.

Any happier memories?

I used to sleep in the bushes outside the Auger Inn while at Randolph.

We had a sweet hous in England that everybody called "The Alamo" It had an indoor pool, bar, 3 living rooms, office, formal dining, 7 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a 5 car garage. That was pretty sweet, we had HUGE parties there. Good times... good times...

AD Pad...I thought this was a thread about something one might wear while on AD. Anyhow, the Shaw House @ Keesler was a nice place to stay. If you listened closely, you could actually hear the turds splashing in the toilet from the dude in the next room. Well, come to think of it, you didn't have to listen very closely.

Wow, * and I had considered something like this with a few other guys here in town, except it had only 5 bedrooms. Sounds like a good time...

Is that what those are for? I just thought they were there to take up space on my nametag.

Evil Eagle, don't know if I ever met you, but I went to two different parties at the Alamo circa 2002. One was a Halloween party with chicks swinging off some rope and into the pool and the other...uh...don't really remember.

Anyway, much like the Alamo, five guys from my squadron went in together and rented out a mansion. It was up in the hills outside of the town of Newmarket - very nice little town that was walking (stumbling) distance to an awesome little pub (England standard). It was a wee bit smaller than the Alamo - (only had 6-9 bedrooms and no indoor pool). Even after their BAH, they ended up paying some coin out of pocket, but it was well worth it. Just about every big squadron function we had was there - even had one guy's wedding reception there. As far as I know, dudes from the 492d and 494th FS are still renting it.

EvilEagle is famous for his Halloween Parties... I can vaguely remember a couple from our college days.

Cheers!
