Same thing happened to us circa 2011; no fighters because B-course is backed up.  Glad to know we learn from our mistakes...

Also to “us” in 08/09. Z flight!

Some squadrons are better than others, but I wouldn't say that mindset is near death though.

Compared to 5-6 years ago it is.  At least they're doing flow throughs now and have pretty much shit canned slide/scram.  But you're right, as in any community, it can depend on the squadron.  I still give the hornet guys props for driving the community in the right direction.

EN 18-01 drops tomorrow and had to put the growler on their dreamsheets. Today they were called in by the SNR and told to not expect great things at their drop. They had to reorganize their dreamsheets with emphasis on non-fighter options.

Hopefully nobody in that class learns the brutal lesson of "I wish I would've tried a little harder" during the great fighter giveaway of 2017...

We had a Commander's Call today and the 71 OG spoke briefly on the T-38 assignments topic. He said the AF had to cut 40 F-16 slots. It wasn't specifically clarified but I presume that was for FY18 classes. He said it was due to the F-16 training units at Holloman not coming online as fast as the AF expected. With the reduced F-16 drops future T-38 classes could expect to see more drops from AFSOC and the ISR communities. U-28s, EC-130s, RC-135s, MC-130s, and CV-22s were specifically mentioned.

Where is the bottleneck? IFF or FTU for the fighters or is this driven by a need for them in other places?

Shocker they couldn't stand up Holloman F-16 capacity with all the 7 day opts.

KC-135 Scott

This guy used to be my troop at Altus.  He was a prior KC-135 Boom, put on MSgt at 10-years, Test Boom at Edwards before even going to OTS.  One of the smartest aviators I've ever known.  Glad to see he got his wish to go back to tankers.  He's a great dude!

50% fighters at ENJJPT is still a far cry from the ‘08-‘10 drops.

True statement, my class (in '11) had less than a third.  The pendulum will continue to swing as it always has.

Call me an @ss, but I'm so glad the entitled Fighter era is coming to a close (at least for now). Let the butt hurting commence.

Agreed. I wish they could plan further than 3 months out too.

One of those U-28s was on the T-1 side. And the other T-38 stud got a F-15E.
